“I’m not saying my golf game went bad, but if I grew tomatoes, they’d come up sliced.”

-Lee Trevino

“Work is for people who don’t know how to play golf.”

No Wolverines?

Apparently, the last one showed up in 2004, but was promptly shot, stuffed, and mounted. What the heck? All these years later I find out there aren’t any wolverines in Michigan. I feel cheated. Shame on you, Michigan. I was going to leave out jokes about the state. So, yeah.

What’s the difference between the Michigan Wolverines and Cheerios?

One belongs in a bowl; the other doesn’t.

Okay, now that I got that out of my system, we will proceed.

I won’t bag on Michigan too much because I do drive a car and I love cereal, both of which Michigan was responsible for. And although the wolverines are gone, they do have the Michigan Dogman, a were-wolfy kinda thing. Granted, it’s no Bigfoot, but you get points for that.

I also find out that the city of Detroit sits upon a gigantic salt mine. Some say enough salt to last 70 million years, if we don’t eat too many fries. It’s probably the reason Detroit hasn’t totally spoiled yet.

Oh, and the original name of the University of Michigan, Catholepistemiad, was changed due to its inability to pronounce it or fit it on the front of a football jersey.

That was fun. Let’s talk golf. Afterall, that’s what we’re here for.

So right off the bat, or 9-iron if you prefer, the TCP Michigan is an “Ultra-exclusive private club on land donated by the Ford Motor Company, located two miles from the Ford World Headquarters.” Swanky, to be sure. Continuing with the swankiness trend, “The Club provides members and guests with a masterfully designed, superbly landscaped and expertly maintained course that offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.”

Jack Nicklaus, as we all know, is the most decorated major champion in golf history. He has designed golf courses all over the globe. This par 72, 6,966-yard, championship golf course is a Jack Nicklaus design and is part of the Tournament Players Club network, which the PGA Tour operates.

Brian Reicker gave a thumbs up stating, “Had a great time playing this course. Layout and conditions were excellent. Food was great and staff was very friendly. Should be the future home for the PGA tour stop in Michigan.”

Vasilios6580212 gave it 5 stars and hailed, “Jack Nicklaus designed an absolute GEM in TPC Michigan. From whichever tee you choose, you have a serious challenge in front of you. Every hole has trouble but presents a risk/reward profile that’s unmatched. Every shot requires thought, and you really have to be accurate to have any chance at par. Tee-to-green this is easily more difficult than Oakland Hills (South and North), and if the greens firm up, “fuhgeddaboudit”. When greens are “slow,” they roll at about a 10.5. Watch out for hole 14; this has to be one of the hardest par 4s I’ve ever encountered.”

Google Reviews gives it a 4.6 out of 5 stars.
